Frequently asked questions
About the service
What does a hospital companion do?
We help with the logistics of a hospital visit: meeting you, wayfinding, registration and queues, paying at the hospital's own counters or machines, and collecting reports or medicine when the hospital allows it. See Services for details.
What can't you do?
We are not a medical provider and do not give medical advice. We don't interpret test results, choose or consent to treatment for you, sign medical documents for you, or advise on medication. We don't provide visa or immigration advice. We don't advance or collect medical fees, and we don't accept commissions from hospitals or anyone else.
Can you tell me the best hospital for my condition?
No. We don't recommend hospitals or doctors. You choose where to go, ideally with advice from a licensed doctor.
For hospitals offering foreign-language services, see the Beijing Municipal Government's official Medical Guide for Foreigners in Beijing. We don't rank or endorse any hospital on it.
Can you get me an appointment or a specific doctor?
We can help you use the hospital's own registration counters, machines and official booking channels. We can't guarantee an appointment, a named doctor or a specific time. Availability is set by the hospital. We never buy or resell appointment numbers.
Will you explain what the doctor says?
We are not certified medical interpreters, and we don't explain diagnoses, results or treatment. If it helps, we can note down practical next steps the hospital gives you, such as where to go next or when to come back, so you can check them with your doctor.
Can you sign forms for me?
No. We don't sign medical documents on your behalf.
Which cities do you cover?
We currently arrange visits in Beijing, and we plan to add more cities in China. If you need support elsewhere, mention the city in your request and we'll tell you honestly whether we can help.
Can you help someone under 14?
Yes, with a parent or guardian. If the patient is under 14, a parent or guardian must submit the request and give any consent.
Payment
How much does it cost?
We'll send a quote in CNY after reviewing your request. Package prices: [[PRICE TBD]]. Our fee covers the hospital companion service only.
How do I pay?
In Renminbi (CNY), typically via Alipay or WeChat Pay. If you pay with a foreign card through Alipay or WeChat Pay, the payment provider may add a fee. That fee is set by the provider, not by us.
Do you pay hospital fees for me?
No. Hospital, lab, pharmacy and transport costs are paid by you directly to the provider. We can help you use the hospital's payment counters or machines, but we never advance, collect or handle medical fees.
What if I need to cancel?
See the cancellation section of our Terms of Service.
Language
What languages do you speak?
Our service is in English. If you'd prefer another language, choose "Other" on the form and tell us which one. We'll let you know honestly whether we can help.
Emergencies
What should I do in an emergency?
Call 120 or go to the nearest emergency department. We are not an emergency service and can't respond to urgent medical situations.
Privacy
Do you collect health information?
Not through our website or by email. The request form asks for no health information, and we ask you not to include any. If we need health-related details to plan your visit, we ask separately by WeChat or a private call, with your separate consent. Those details stay in China and are deleted within 30 days after your visit, or within 7 days if you don't book.
Where is my form data stored?
Our website and form data are hosted by service providers in the United States. The Privacy Policy lists each provider. You give separate consent to this when you submit the form. If you'd rather not use the form, email hello@chinahospitalcompanion.com or WeChat us: V82836599. See our Privacy Policy for details.
How do I ask you to delete my data?
Email hello@chinahospitalcompanion.com or WeChat us: V82836599.
Visas
Can you help with my visa or an invitation letter?
No. We don't provide visa or immigration advice, and we don't issue invitation letters or supporting documents. Please consult the Chinese embassy or consulate where you live, or official immigration channels.
